My daughter, Lydia, and I were interviewed for this week’s WELS “Together” video update, which looks forward to the WELS National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts held this June at two locations — the primary conference in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and a satellite conference in Irvine, California (Orange County).
We were invited to be interviewed as a “father–daughter team” because Lydia participated in the children’s choir at the previous conference (2014), and her participation may encourage other young WELS members to apply for either the Children’s Choir or the high school Honor Choir. Lydia had a fantastic time at the last conference, but she may have given the best sales pitch to other teens when she said that “you get to live in a dorm and eat whatever you want!” I’m very proud that she was a part of this video, and I hope many WELS members, especially our young singers (and future musical leaders!), will consider attending either the Kenosha or Irvine worship conference. The application deadline for the children’s (grades 4-8) and high school choirs has been extended to April 3; application information is available at the worship conference website.
